NIC’s Education Council (EdCo) is supported by three committees that work on new program development and existing program changes. 

Curriculum Committee 

The Curriculum Committee meets monthly to review new curriculum and curriculum revisions. This work includes providing feedback to curriculum developers and preparing documents for EdCo consideration. At minimum, half of the Curriculum Committee is comprised of faculty (with a minimum two members attending), with the remaining membership including the following: 

  • At least one support staff representative 
  • At least one student representative 
  • At least one Student Services representative 
  • At least one senior administrator with academic responsibilities 
  • A minimum of three additional EdCo members 

Planning and Standards Committee 

The Planning and Standards committee meets monthly and is tasked with making recommendations for new and revised education and student services policies. At minimum, half of the Planning and Standards Committee is comprised of faculty (with a minimum two members attending), with the remaining membership including the following: 

  • At least one support staff representative 
  • At least one student representative 
  • At least one Student Services representative 
  • The director of Student Services or their designate 
  • At least one senior administrator with academic responsibilities 
  • A minimum of three additional EdCo members 

Fast Track Committee 

The Fast Track Committee meets as needed to provide quick, one-time approval of curriculum when there are time constraints that make standard process untenable. At minimum, half of the Fast Track Committee is comprised of faculty, with the remaining membership including the following: 

  • The chair of the Fast Track Committee (who also chairs the Curriculum Committee) 
  • The chair of EdCo 
  • NIC’s vice-president, academic 
  • A minimum of three additional committee members — including at least one additional EdCo member, one additional Curriculum Committee member and one at-large member
