Extended benefits
NIC provides comprehensive extended health and dental coverage and pays up to 100% of the premiums for eligible employees, spouse and dependent children. We offer a wide range of group benefits including:

Retirement and pension
NIC offers generous employer-sponsored defined-benefit pension plans to provide a lifetime retirement income for our employees. The College and Municipal Pension Plans are administered by the BC Pension Corporation. Employee contribution rates vary between plans and NIC also contributes to the pension plan on behalf of eligible employees.

Health and wellness
NIC supports employee well-being through Employee and Family Assistance services through Homewood Health, including short-term counseling, Life Smart coaching for health and life management and online health courses.
Wellness initiatives include seasonal recognition events and Thrive NIC, a week-long mental health program. We are also an active participant in the CMHA's Not Myself Today program.
Employees have access to the nearby Comox Valley Aquatic & Fitness Centre at a discounted rate.
Employee professional development
NIC supports lifelong learning by offering annual professional development funding based on collective agreements, making continuing education and lifelong learning accessible to all employees.
Family-friendly benefits
NIC provides family-friendly benefits, including maternity and parental leave top-ups, on-campus child care, generous paid time off and tuition waivers.
On-Campus child care centres
The Beaufort Children’s Centre on NIC’s Comox Valley Campus and Forest Circle Child Care on the Campbell River campus, offers licensed child care, operating year-round from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. NIC employees have priority admission (after students), space permitting.
Tuition waivers
NIC offers Tuition Waivers to waive registration fees for college credit and evaluated continuing education course taken by an employee or members of a faculty family (spouse and children).
