Canadian Armed Forces members
We’re proud to offer specialized admission support for assistance for new and continuing students who are serving members or veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Our military advisors will work with you to review your CAF training and assess your eligibility for credit toward your NIC credential. Get in touch with us today.
Gain credit for rank
Non-commissioned members at or above the master corporal/master sailor rank and officers at or above the captain/lieutenant (navy) rank can receive six unassigned arts credits toward completing your program at NIC. Our military advisor can provide advice on how you can use these credits.
All current and retired military members receive credit for Math 10 and English 10.
In order to qualify for credits, you will need to provide us with a signed and dated copy of your current military personnel record resume.
Prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR)
The PLAR process may allow you to earn credits for knowledge you’ve acquired outside the classroom — including courses and training through your military career. Ask your advisor for details. You can also learn more on our assessments and testing page.

NIC is a supporting member of the Canadian Military, Veteran & Family Connected Campus Consortium.
