New student resources
New student checklist
After receiving your Letter of Acceptance, it is time to get ready to come to Canada and start your studies. Please read the following information carefully and email us if you have any questions.
- Outstanding requirements: Check your Letter of Offer to make sure you've submitted all required documents.
- Pay your program fees: Your deposit usually covers the first term fee but not your full program. You'll have to pay for the second term. Fee payment deadlines varies by your term of study – check the academic schedule for details.
- Purchase your supplies: Many programs require additional supplies. Check the program page for details.
- Register for courses: Once we get your study permit information, an International Student Advisor will reach out. They’ll help you with course registration based on what’s available and your prerequisites. Depending on your prerequisites you may have additional courses you will be registered in.
- Set up your technology: Whether your courses are online or in-class, you'll need access to a computer with internet. Review our technology checklists through the Learn Anywhere portal.
- Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA). You’ll need MFA to log in to NIC services and resources when you’re not on campus. Download the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app from Google Play or Apple Store.
- Log into myNIC. Check your student portal for email, class updates and resources. Can’t log in? Reset your password.
