Domestic applicants
You’ve got things to do. Let’s get started.
We’re excited you’re here. The steps on this page provide a roadmap to guide you through the process of becoming a student.
If you get stuck or have questions, we want to hear from you. Contact our Future Students team at 1-800-715-0914 or email us at futurestudents@nic.bc.ca.
If you’re applying to NIC and live in another country, visit our international applicants page.
Step 1:
Choose your program
Becoming a student starts with choosing a program. You can browse a wide variety of options using our program finder. Be sure to carefully read the admission requirements for the program that interests you.

Program finder
Start your journey. Search programs and training options across the North Island.
Search programsTo qualify, you need to meet your program admission requirements and:
- have graduated from secondary school (or equivalent) or be at least 18 years old during the calendar year in which you plan to study
- be a Canadian citizen or provide proof of permanent resident status, convention of refugee status or permission to study in Canada as an International student
If you're under 18 and haven't graduated high school contact us. We'll provide an alternate application process.
Step 2:
Apply online
You can apply to most NIC programs through EducationPlannerBC. Start by creating an account and be sure to use your most up-to-date contact information.
After submitting your application, you should receive a confirmation email from EducationPlannerBC. If you do not receive confirmation of your application, please consult EducationPlannerBC’s help page.
Important: information about your application is sent to your personal email address. After you've paid your tuition deposit, information is sent to your new NIC student email address.
Step 3:
Set up your myNIC account and submit your transcripts
After submitting an application, you’ll receive a confirmation email from us with instructions to sign in to your myNIC account – our student portal system – and student email.
We’ll also ask you to submit your official transcripts. Request them through the Ministry of Education. They will be sent directly to our admissions team.
If you don't have your high school transcripts, you may be able to meet prerequisites by doing an assessment.
Step 4:
Receive your offer of admission and pay your deposit
Head to myNIC or visit us in-person to pay your program deposit.
Your deposit may take up to 24 hours to clear.
We’re grateful to be part of your journey and excited to meet you for the first time – or welcome you back to campus.
Be sure to check out our Orientation resources and familiarize yourself with the academic schedule, including tuition and fees deadline.
