Registering for courses

We’re excited to be part of your educational journey and want to make sure registration is a breeze. Complete your registration entirely online using the steps below. Alternatively, complete our digital form if you would like us to help you register for courses. 

Step-by-step guide 

  1. If you’re interested in registering for a featured course, click the “Register” button to be taken directly to Instant Enrollment, our Continuing Education and Training registration system. You can also search for courses directly from Instant Enrollment or use our course finder.
  2. Select the course options you’re interested in and follow the prompts to add them into your cart. Select “next” to proceed to checkout.
  3. If you are a first-time student, fill out your personal details — including your contact information – and select “submit” to proceed to the next step.
  4. Submit your payment information and finish registering.
  5. First-time students should check their personal email for the following three messages (please allow up to 24 hours for the final message to arrive):
    • Confirmation of your purchase and registration status in your course(s)
    • Your login password (your account and student email will be generated overnight)
    • Your NIC student email and account login information (required for registering for all future courses)

Important tips for registration 

If you’ve previously taken a course with us, you can skip step three (see above) and simply use your NIC login information to go right to step four — however, you should still receive email confirmation of your payment and registration once you’re done. 
As a current student, you can also quickly jump into registration or update your information through your myNIC account through the link on the “Continuing Education Registration” card. 

The first step is buying a membership. This works exactly the same way as registering for a regular course.

For example, a Comox Valley ElderCollege membership is assigned the course code CVEC-0001 in our Instant Enrollment registration system. To purchase that membership, you would register for that course using our step-by-step guide. 
When memberships are open for purchase, you can find a quick link on each ElderCollege homepage. You can also browse for the membership you want in our course search.

You can also register for the ElderCollege courses you’re interested in at the same time you’re purchasing a membership; a separate session is not required. 

Each summer camp is treated as a course, so follow the standard steps above – with one important exception. Be sure to use the child’s personal information (e.g. their full name and date of birth) and not your own when creating an account to register them in a summer camp. As the parent/legal guardian, you should still provide your contact information on the form.
