Coastal Forest Technology student Dakota Johnson was on the front lines of the battle to stop wildfires this summer as part of his work with a Black Creek company specializing in drone technology.
Stinson Aerial Services used drones to help BC wildfire crews identify hot spots — fires that may not be visible to the human eye — using thermal scanning.
Johnson was involved in designing the mapping process for the contract, according to the Comox Valley Record.
