North Island College (NIC) is honoured to host the 2025 Postsecondary International Network (PIN) Leadership Summit from Sept. 16–19, welcoming post-secondary leaders from around the world to Vancouver Island.
PIN is a global alliance of polytechnic, community-technical and post-secondary institutions committed to addressing key challenges in higher education through collaboration, innovation and the sharing of best practices.
NIC’s Comox Valley and Campbell River campuses will host approximately 30 international leaders for sessions exploring Indigenization in post-secondary education, the impacts of artificial intelligence on the sector, financial sustainability and approaches to capacity and engagement.
“North Island College is proud to welcome colleagues from across the globe to our campuses and communities,” said Lisa Domae, NIC President and CEO. “Hosting the PIN Leadership Summit gives us the opportunity to share NIC’s journey in areas such as Indigenization and innovation, while learning from the expertise and perspectives of our international partners.”
Summit participants include presidents and vice-presidents from NIC’s global partners, including Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi (New Zealand), University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, Kapiʻolani Community College (Hawaiʻi) and Hawaiʻi Community College.
“The members of the Postsecondary International Network (PIN) are grateful for the warm hospitality extended by NIC,” said PIN President Lui Hokoana. “We are excited to learn about the excellent work being done here, as well as by our fellow member institutions."
The Postsecondary International Network began as a North American initiative and has since expanded worldwide, with member institutions from across the globe. PIN provides a platform for sharing resources, innovative practices and expertise while identifying and addressing global challenges in post-secondary education. Past international conferences have taken place in Korea, Bahrain and other host countries.
