Liz joined the faculty in 2014 after 30 years of practice in a variety of settings.
The majority of Liz's nursing career has been with the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council
in various roles from Community Health Nursing, Maternal Child, and in leadership
capacities of mentoring and supporting nursing practice. Liz was part of the collaborative
process with the Nuu-chah-nulth elders, women, and families to delevop a culturally
safe approach to care when working with pregnant and parenting families. This approach
to care "The Mother's Story" which has been implemented Island wide to support all
pregant and parenting women in Public Health. Liz continues to work with Island Health
as an educator for the Mother's Story. Liz graciously acknolwedges the gift of learning
from the Nuu-chah-nulth people which continues to inform her current teaching practice.
